What is Letter of Inquiry?
A short pre-proposal that asks a funder whether a full application is welcome.
A Letter of Inquiry, sometimes called a letter of intent or concept note, is a one to three page summary of your project sent before a full proposal. Many foundations use it to screen applicants and reduce review workload.
A strong LOI states the problem, your proposed response, the amount requested, and the alignment with the funder's stated priorities. It should be readable in two minutes.
