What is Fiscal sponsor?
A tax-exempt organization that receives grant funds on behalf of a project.
A fiscal sponsor is an established 501(c)(3) that accepts and administers grant funds for a project or group that lacks its own tax-exempt status, taking on legal and financial responsibility for the money.
Sponsors typically charge an administrative fee of roughly 5 to 15 percent. Funders usually accept fiscally sponsored applicants, but the sponsor must be named in the application.
